I'm one of the many people who interview people for a major Richmond company. Cultural fit does come up, but not as much as you might expect. We also discuss skills and experience, interview performance, listening skills, analytical skills, job fit, and more. People sometimes are not a cultural fit. This often means that they don't take responsibility, brame or bad mouth others, avoid ownership of problems, etc.

There is a truth to the roommate analogy, but it's more like a marrage. If we do this right, we are making a commitment not just to hire, but to nurture. We want people that will stay. If we didn't, well, contractors are cheaper. Why waste money hiring?

Im over 40 by far, and I've seen a lot of people my age get hired. I work with them. A lot of them are interviewers like me.

It's easy to see cultural fit as ageism., but I don't see it that way. What I see discussed is more about if we all see the person being successfuli In our environment. No one person can make or break a hire.

I work with diverse people of all ages who are all a cultural fit. Each brings something to the table. I know that we sometimes turn a good person away, but we rarely hire someone who isn't a good fit.

Like many illusions, the facts quickly dispel the magic.

I am having issues with Verizon LTE as well. Can't seem to pick up a 4G signal downtown with my iPad. Not sure what the problem is.
